It isn’t often that I get called for a newborn session, but boy do I love them when I do! This sweet little girl was no exception. So gorgeous, so sweet, and so brand new! For newborn sessions, it is best to get them to me before they turn 2 weeks old. Typically then they are still pretty sleepy. This little girl was supposed to be sleepy, but she showed who was in charge. She wanted to be awake and see everything going on! That’s ok, I’m patient, I’ll wait. So, we got some awake photos, and some sweet sleepy photos. All in all, it was a great shoot!
Here are a few sneak peeks from our session:
While I may be a little biased, I have to say, my newest little nephew is the most precious, cutest little thing! I flew out to Seattle last week to meet the little guy, and I fell in love. Not only is he beautiful, but he is the best, most easy going baby ever! Don’t know what my sister and her husband did to deserve such a perfect new baby, but it must have been something big! And while I was there, of course, there had to be photos taken. I couldn’t bring all of my gear, so I had to make due with what I could pack on a plane. But I brought enough to get some beautiful photos of this precious baby. I wanted to share a few sneak peeks (and there will be lots more posted on Facebook, so make sure you check back to see those later!).
There aren’t too many people that I will make a special trip down to photograph. Don’t get me wrong, I will arrange to travel for shoots, but usually I have to line up a few to make the trip. (I hate driving!) But for family, I am happy to do it!
It has been a while since I had a little newborn to photograph! They are so sweet and soft and squishy, what’s not to love?! With such a beautiful momma (seriously, who looks that good after having a baby less than 2 weeks ago?!), of course her little girl will be gorgeous! After working REALLY hard to get her to sleep, we played with different blankets and hair bows and hats. The longest part of newborn sessions is always the getting them settled and sleepy. After that, it moves really quickly! The entire time, the “big sister” in this family was patiently waiting for her turn to be photographed. Nudging me often, reminding me that she was still there waiting. And then finally! It was her turn! She leaped into her place, and looked right at me. She was hilarious! (See the sneak peeks below to see the baby’s beautiful big sister). Mom, Dad, Baby, and Sister all together, what a beautiful family.

Yep, you read that right! Since my 2 day sales for seniors seem to be such a hit, I thought I would try one for families this year. For those of you who don’t know about the 2 day sale, I will give you ALL the info you could ever want and need.
This is my ONLY sale I offer for families. And the details are pretty simple. Call during the 2 day sale, book your session for anytime on or BEFORE December 1st (session dates just need to be booked during the sale, not held during the sale!), pay the reduced session fee at time of booking, and you are set!
Step 1 – Look at the website (to make sure I am the type of photographer you want for your family photos!) http://www.jpsearcyphotography.com
Step 2 – Call during the sale dates – tell me how you heard of me and/or the sale (whether it was thru one of my reps, or me, or blog, or facebook ads, or whatever!), what date you would like for your session, and where you want to have your session
Step 3 – Pay for the session fee with credit card over the phone, and receive your confirmation email
Step 4 – Start planning what you are going to wear for your photo shoot! (Fun stuff now!)
(Going into further details) You call me at 407-977-6296 between the hours of 9am-9pm on Wednesday July 25th (which also happens to be my birthday!) or Thursday July 26th. (If you get voicemail, it just means I am taking another call, so PLEASE bear with me and leave a message with your name and phone number, and I will call you back as soon as I am off the call!). You will want to have the date that you want your session (with one as a back up date, in case your date has already been selected and I just didn’t get to take it off the calendar yet). My available session dates can be found http://www.localendar.com/public/jpsearcyphotography. It is helpful if you know where you want to have your session (but it isn’t mandatory, we can talk about it and figure it out later if need be). If you want to see photo samples of my most popular locations, look at my website http://www.jpsearcyseniors.com (these will be senior photos, but the way I have my senior site set up, is each gallery is a different location). On the main portfolio page, you will see separate albums for each of the locations. After our call, I will email you a confirmation email with the session information! You MUST pay the session fee online when you are calling to book in order to get this sale price. This is non-refundable (in case of bad weather or illness, you can transfer the session fee to another available date, no worries!), so make sure you really want to have your session with me before calling! That is it!
I know it may seem early to be thinking about holiday photos, but really it isn’t! You can pick your date for any time before December, and you will have beautiful family photos to send out cards with, and to give to family as gifts.
The “fine” print – session fees need to be paid at time of booking; session dates must be held on or before December 1, 2012; session fees are non-refundable (but can be used for a different date incase of illness or bad weather); can only be used towards a family session (which can be the whole family, just siblings, or little kids. No senior sessions this time, sorry! Families with high school seniors is fine, just not a “senior session”.); family sessions are up to 5 people – each additional person is $15 (usually each additional person is $25). And that is all the fine print I can think of! If you have ANY questions, please email me at jps@jpsearcyphotography!
I started photographing big sister about 5 years ago, and I just adore her. She is a great little model for me now, and knows exactly what to expect. I was SO excited to hear that she had a little sister on the way! Another sweet little girl to photograph and love!
When it was time for baby sister’s newborn photos, of course we had to get a couple with big sister too. We started with the baby, but I could tell that she was anxious to get started on her photos too, so, we stopped and did the sister photos, and then went back to the baby ones ;). At first, we didn’t think that baby sister was going to sleep at all for us! She was wide awake and so curious to what was going on. And when I saw the (awake) one, I knew I wanted that to be a sneak peek for sure. She had a little sassy look on her face, like “what are you messing with my naps for lady?!”. But then she fell asleep and we got to do all the fun hats and blankets and rugs. I tell you, once they are asleep, they are SO much easier! Hahaha!
Anyway, here are her sneak peeks. Hope you love them!
The term “newborn” is used a little loosely in this case. See, photographers look at “newborn” age as two weeks or younger. That is the ideal time for “newborn” photos. They are nice and sleepy, they still love to be swaddled, and they are more “bendy” (for getting those adorable curled up poses). However, I was not able to photograph this little guy during that time. So, now at four weeks old, I was a little concerned about getting that “newborn” look out of him!
THANKFULLY, he was fantastic! As soon as he laid down on my furry blanket, he was out cold! Didn’t like to be swaddled, but apparently, he never liked that, so we were all good! And it all worked out for the best, because we were able to do a family session after his newborn shoot (and we wouldn’t have been able to do that if we did it 2 weeks ago). So, bottom line, if you have missed your 2 week window for newborn photos, don’t give up! Schedule a session as soon as you are able to. These little angels change so much, seems like every day, that you will still get gorgeous photos!
Here are his newborn sneak peeks (with family sneak peeks to follow later). Don’t you just love his hair (and little smirk in the second one)?!:
