I know I am getting a later start than usual for my upcoming class.  And it is for obvious reasons!  But there is a little more to the story.

I have been in business for over 13 years now, and I have absolutely loved meeting new clients/friends.  The photography part has always been one of my great loves.  But the business side?  Well, not so much.  That is the part that I really don’t enjoy.  Unfortunately I do have bills to pay, so the business end is a necessity!  I have said for years, if I ever win the lottery, I will shut down the business and just do it all for charity.  Take photographs just for the love of photography and people (especially my seniors).  No, I didn’t win the lottery ;), but I did think that it was time to shut down.  I did have a few shoots on the books for the year, and of course, I would be keeping those.  I would never leave my clients high and dry. My son asked me to hang in there one more year to finish with his class.  Who would have imagined it ending in a global pandemic?!

Well, the few months that I was forced to be shut down, I found that I missed it.  A lot.  I missed the amazing kids that I would meet, I missed being a goofy nerd on shoots, and believe it or not, I even missed editing (a little bit 😉 ).  That told me that maybe I am not really ready to pack it all in quite yet.  So, what I decided to do, is cut back on the amount of shoots that I do.  I won’t be taking a crazy amount of clients anymore.  So, if you are wanting to book a shoot, you will want to contact me early because I just won’t have as much availability as I have had in the past.  I have also added a new type of shoot to be able to accommodate different families.  It is a Quick and Simple shoot, which basically is just a short little shoot of 20 minutes or so, maximum of 2 outfits, very little editing, quick turn around, and digital images included (so no ordering appointment).  And then I will still offer the same two options as I did in the past – Traditional session (1 location) and Deluxe session (2 locations), with the option to go to the beach for either of those two session types.  Packages will remain the same as in the past few years.

And, since for the first time in forever, I didn’t do a sale in May, I will offer one for the seniors for the rest of the month.  Sessions will need to be booked before the end of this month (which gives you about 2 weeks, instead of the 2 days that has been for the past sales).  For the 2021 seniors, you just need to pick your session date (anytime between now and the end of September), and pay your session fee to get the sale price.  For more details, please email me at jpsearcyphotography@gmail.com.

Class of 2020, my heart is broken for you.  Your senior year didn’t end the way you wanted or deserved.  You didn’t get the end of the year celebrations that you have been waiting for.  And as much as I would love to be able to fix it for you (my son is also in the same boat), I can’t.  Nothing I can do to make it right for you.  And with graduation ceremonies still up in the air, I wanted to offer my seniors SOMETHING.

This isn’t something I’ve really offered in the past, as graduation time is usually pretty busy for the seniors and their families.  On occasion a senior will have the cap and gown from a sibling and they bring it on their regular senior session to get a few.  I’ve offered studio cap and gown photos before, but with everything as crazy as it is now, I didn’t think that would be a good idea to be in that close proximity to others.  So, outdoors should work!  Yep, it’s hot, especially all dressed in the gowns.  So I will limit the location to areas close by, and I promise to be quick.  You are welcome to bring a parent with you to help do the things that I would usually do (straighten ties, fix hair, etc), and as hard as it will be, I will keep my distance (and I’ll wear a mask too).

If you had a shoot with me for your senior photos in the past year, and you would like a free mini session in your cap and gown, please reach out to me.  Email or text is fine.  This is my gift to you.  What it will be, is a quick, socially distanced 😉 outdoor session in your gowns.  There will be no charge for the photo session, and you will have the digital images for them as well.  Let’s get a few nice photos to celebrate your achievement and this important milestone in your life.

Announcing the annual senior sale for the class of 2020!  Now, in the past, this sale was only 2 days long.  This year, I’m changing things up a little, and making things a little less stressful.  This year, the senior sale is going to run from May 15 – May 31.  This is the ONE sale that I run all year, so you don’t want to miss out!  This year, the earlier in the summer that you have your shoot, the more you will save! Don’t worry, all of my summer shoots are held early morning, so it won’t be too hot or sweaty for our shoot ;). In addition to the reduced session fee, anyone booking during the sale will also receive 2 complimentary gift prints with order (a gift print is your choice of an 8×10 or smaller – an $80 value!).

-Book and pay for a shoot to take place in June, and the session fee is only $100 ($150 for deluxe).  In addition, you will receive 5 complimentary social media images with your order.

-Book and pay for a shoot to take place in July, and the session fee is only $125 ($175 for deluxe), you will receive 4 complimentary social media images with your order.

All sessions are done on location (of your choice).  Regular senior session is one location, Deluxe senior session is two locations (in the same day).  I only take one senior client per day, so when that date is filled, it is not available for another client.  So, if you know you want JPSearcy to photograph you for your senior photos, you will want to call and pick your date early!  Simple as that!

As always. Session fees are for the session time and editing only, and do not include any prints or digital files.  Print packages are ordered at our viewing/ordering appointment approximately 3 weeks after our shoot.  I have 6 different flexible packages ranging from $240-$1890.  Minimum order for regular sessions is $240, for deluxe (2 location) sessions is $500.

It is that time of year again!  Time to start working on the graduation announcements.  If you had a shoot with me this year, you probably saw the graduation announcements that I offer.  I told you that I don’t take orders for them until after February, remember?  Well, it’s time!  Don’t worry, this design appointment won’t take nearly as long as your first viewing/ordering appointment.  You have already seen your photos, you know which are your favs, so this next part is pretty quick and painless.  In the past, they have taken about 15 minutes.  If you are interested in making an announcement appointment, send me a quick email letting me know when is best for you to come by.

If you have NOT had a shoot with me yet, it isn’t too late!  We still have time to have a great session, get beautiful portraits, and get your custom graduation announcements back.  All before graduation!  While it isn’t too late now, it will be too late soon.  So you don’t want to wait too much longer to get on my calendar.  This last semester flies by, and towards the end of the semester, you and your family will be busy with graduation plans and parties.  Trust me!  If you would like to talk to me about a shoot, please email me ~ jpsearcyphotography@gmail.com or call/text me 407-977-6296.

Happy new year!  I hope everyone had a very happy holiday.  I have another great senior sneak peek to start our year off right!  This is of Faith, one of my 2019 senior models.  As you know if you have been following me, this year I changed things up from reps to models!  Which basically means, I don’t have to have an application process and choose reps anymore (yay!!).  Anyone who wants to be a part of my model experience is welcome!  There were different levels of models, and those levels included different amounts of shoots during the school year.  Everyone got their main shoot during the summer before senior year started, and then either 1 or 2 bonus shoots to happen during the school year!  For Faith’s bonus shoots, she chose Disney World and then this night shoot downtown.  It has been so much fun getting to know her throughout this year.  She is a fantastic girl, and we have gotten so many beautiful photos of her this year!  But this isn’t her final shoot.  She will have one more mini shoot when her cap/gown come in before graduation.  For next school year, I will be having a tweaked version of this new model program! There will be some changes next year for all of my clients and offerings (which will be worked out and announced in the next month or so, no worries!).  So if you are in the class of 2020, keep me in mind, and follow me (I’m jpsearcy on all social media), so you get the details when they are released!

But for now, how about take a sneak peek at the super sweet Faith?!  We went around downtown Orlando in the early evening to have a shoot with some nighttime city lights!

A new program for seniors that I introduced this year, was called the “Model Experience”.  This was to take the place of my reps.  Now, I loved having reps, mostly because I got to work with them their entire senior year.  They had the opportunity to earn bonus photo shoots.  Well, the NEW program, was you pay for whichever level of “Model Experience” you wanted (based on how many bonus shoots you wanted).  Everyone has a main shoot in the summer, and then the bonus shoots are during the fall/winter.  They can have one bonus shoot or two bonus shoots.  And what the bonus shoots are, is completely up to them!  I ask what they want to do, and we go do it!  Most of the bonus shoots will be with one or two other models, and that just adds to the fun.  So far, the program is working great, so I do expect to do it again for the class of 2020, so stay tuned, if this sounds like something you (or your senior) would want to do next year!  Sign ups will be in the next couple of months!

The next bonus shoot we did was out at Magic Kingdom!  I have two girls who are in the model program this year, that are Disney fanatics!  So, why not try a shoot at Disney?!  Unfortunately, the schedules wouldn’t align for them to both go the same day.  So, no problem, we will go two different days!  Faith brought her sister along (who is a past senior client of mine AND a future WEDDING client of mine too!).  We had so much fun playing around in the park.  They even got me on the teacups (NOT my favorite ride, because it makes me sick).  But anything they want, and anything for a fun photo!  Here are a couple of sneak peeks of my model Faith (and a bonus one with her and her sister):

I am SO excited to welcome in the new class of seniors!  Welcome to the class of 2019!  I have a feeling this is going to be such a fun summer, meeting and photographing all of the new seniors.  I already have lots of seniors on my calendar for June and July and even a couple for August.  Summer IS hot, but it is the prime time to get senior photos taken.  (And don’t worry, I shoot early morning, so we aren’t really too affected by the heat.) The reason it is the prime time to get them taken, is this is when you have the most open and flexible schedule.  I can shoot any day of the week, compared to when school starts, where we are limited to just weekends.  Once school starts, so does all of the craziness of senior year!  Classes, homework, extra curriculars, SAT, ACT, etc.  It may not feel like it now, but senior year FLIES by.  If you put it off too long, then it just becomes something you are trying to work in and get done, instead of letting it be a fun and relaxing experience!  Bottom line, the earlier you can get your senior photos done, the better!  So, if you haven’t yet chosen your senior photographer, I hope you consider me.  I will not only get you beautiful photos to mark this important milestone in your life, but we will have a great time doing it!  If you want to talk to me more about photo session, or if you are ready to get on my calendar, please feel free to contact me!  jpsearcyphotography@gmail.com, or message me on any of my social media pages (I’m JPSearcy everywhere 😉 ).

Now, onto my very first senior of the year – Faith!  She is such a sweet girl.  I met her a few years ago when her older sister came to me for her senior photos.  She wanted hers to be different than her sister’s, so she picked out two locations that her sister didn’t.  We went to Stetson (my first time there!) and Kraft Azalea.  Both very beautiful spots!  And I could tell early on in our shoot that we were going to have a fun time.  She was full of laughs, especially when her sister was helping out.  Her mom and sister kept themselves entertained with control of my snapchat for the shoot.  And I learned that she has a fear of heights!  Doesn’t matter if it is just a couple of feet off the ground ;).  So, we kept her pretty close to the ground for the entire shoot.  I got lots of great laughing photos of her, and lots of just plain beautiful photos of her. (both smiling and not smiling).  I can’t wait to show her all of them.  But for now, h

ere are a few sneak peeks from our shoot:

It is that time of year again!  My search for the next class of JPSearcy Senior reps!

I have more details on an earlier blog entry (from a few days ago).  You should read it in its entirety if you haven’t already.  But the shortened version is, I search for a couple of girls from each of the local schools to represent me and my business during their senior year.  (I say girls, because the major perks of being a rep is all of the photo shoots you go on.  And guys, while they do have a good time on a shoot with me, don’t always want to do multiple shoots.  AND talk about their photos with others (the main job of a rep).  However, if the right guy wanted to be a rep, I’d totally be open to it.).  What I look for in a rep – good kid (because they ARE representing me, after all!), very social and outgoing, friendly and approachable, involved in their school, involved in extra curricular activities, responsible and driven, and someone comfortable in front of the camera.  I am NOT looking for a model or model-types (I’ll make them look and feel like a model on their shoots with me, but looks alone are not what is going to get the rep spot!).   My reps will show off their beautiful photos to their friends and classmates and talk to them about their experience with me.  And in turn, they can earn credits to be used towards their own senior photos (and they can earn extra photo shoots too!).  Reps DO pay a session fee, just like everyone else.  They just have the opportunity to turn their session fee into credits towards their own senior photo order.

So exciting!  Here is the official application for the class of 2018 JPSearcy Senior reps:

2018 Rep Application

PLEASE before submitting your application, make sure your parents know about it, and are ok with you applying.  I will have to contact each of them anyway, and I don’t want to surprise them ;).   I am looking for reps for Hagerty, Oviedo, Winter Springs, Lake Howell, Lake Brantley, Winter Park and any other school in the nearby area (public or private schools are fine, even if I don’t have a rep there this year!).

After submitting your application, please go to your social media sites and add me, favorite me, like me, whatever!  I am jpsearcy on twitter, instagram, and snapchat, and Jeannette Priest Searcy on facebook (and jpsearcy on the business page of facebook).  It is easier for you to find me and add me, than it is for me to find you!

I leave the applications up for as long as they need to be for me to get lots of possible reps, and then when I think I have enough fantastic people to choose from, I close it for that school.  (It is a very overwhelming job as is!)  Some schools fill up QUICKLY (I’m talking within hours!) Others take a little longer, maybe a few days.  Once I have closed the applications for your school, that is it, no more accepted!  So, bottom line, if you know you want to do this, and you know that you would be a fantastic rep for me, apply NOW!!

All of the info about the JPSearcy rep program is listed in the blog entry before this one, so if you haven’t read it yet, please do!

Any questions for me, I can be reached by email – jpsearcyphotography@gmail.com or by text 407-977-6296 (or any other social media 😉 ).  Good luck!!

Almost time for the applications for the next year senior reps! Applications will go online in one week. Friday, January 20th at 4pm. But, before next Friday, I wanted to give the details for those who may be interested in applying. If you ARE interested in applying, please share this blog entry with your parents. They MUST be on board with you applying! (And, trust me, as a mom myself, give them the info now, not next Friday at 3:59pm 😉 )
What is a rep? Well, every year I select 1-3 girls from each of the local schools to represent me, and spread the word to their friends and classmates about what it is like to have their senior photos taken by JPSearcy Photography. The reps go on a deluxe session which is basically a photoshoot to two locations of their choosing. They also have the opportunity to “earn” extra photo shoots. Among those extra shoots include a family shoot (perk for the parents!), a beach shoot, and fun themed group shoots! They are also earning credit with each referral they send, to spend on their own senior photos. Reps have advance notice of the once a year sale I run, and can offer a free gift to the people they are referring to me.
What am I looking for in a JPSearcy Senior Rep? I am looking for girls who are super motivated, involved in their school, friendly, approachable, have a great online presence on social media, fun, and competitive! Why only girls? Girls are the ones who typically WANT to do this job. Guys have fun on a shoot with me too, but they typically don’t want to do multiple shoots and all day shoot. And they don’t talk as much as the girls do! Haha! Now, I will say, if I got an application from a guy, and he could convince me that he would do as much as the girls do, then I would be thrilled to have him rep for me!
Things to know about being selected to rep for JPSearcy Seniors:
~Each of my reps DO pay a session fee, just like any other client. The difference is, they earn theirs back to use towards their senior photos as soon as they start bringing in referrals. Why do they have to pay for a session fee? Because I invest a lot of time and money into each of my reps. And I only want reps who are in it for the job, not just all the extra sessions and perks. So, by having my rep program set up this way, the reps do get free sessions, but they have to earn them. I have been using reps for many years now, so if a parent of a potential rep is a little nervous, I am happy to connect you to some of the parents of previous reps for piece of mind.
~This is not a modeling job! The extra photo shoots are perks, the real job is referring your friends to have their senior photos taken with me. You do not have to be a model, you do not have to look like a model to be a rep! (I don’t even ask for a photo with the application)
~While I call this a “job”, it really doesn’t involve very much time. Most of the referring is done just hanging out with their friends! The busiest time will be around the 2 day sale in May.
~Selecting a new class of reps is one of MY most stressful times of the entire year. It kills me that I have to turn girls down. Please know that there is a lot that goes into selecting the reps, behind the scenes. I even have other senior photographers that I know in other parts of the country help me decide! If you are not selected as a rep, it could be because of one of a 100 different reasons. But most of the time, it is as simple as you are good friends with another girl who was already selected as a rep. So, please don’t be too upset, and pretty please don’t take it personally. I would still love to photograph you and get to know you better as a JPSearcy client. <3
Complete benefits and details will be sent to those who are finalists. Your parents will have to look it all over with you, and agree to it, before you are officially a rep. Gotta have the parent’s blessing!
Applications will be going up around 4pm next Friday afternoon. The link will be posted on my blog, twitter, facebook, and instagram (basically everywhere!). Facebook – www.facebook.com/jpsearcy, Twitter -http://twitter.com/jpsearcy, Instagram – www.instagram.com/jpsearcy. (And while you are at it, please follow or “like” me!) If you are interested, I would urge you to talk it over with your parents NOW, before the applications go up on Friday. Show them this post and show the type of photos I take on my website – http://www.jpsearcyseniors.com. If they are on board with you applying, then fill out your application as soon as you see them posted Friday afternoon. Think about your answers, because the application is most of what I go on when selecting new reps! Applications stay open for each school until I have plenty of great candidates, then I close them for that school. In the past, some schools, closed after only 2 hours! So, you don’t want to miss out!
If you have any questions about what it is REALLY like to be a JPSearcy rep, why don’t you ask one of my current reps?! They are all amazing, and I’m sure they wouldn’t mind giving you the low down on what it is like to work for me. Or if you have questions for me, I’m happy to answer anything! You can email me jpsearcyphotography@gmail.com, or message me on any of my social media accounts.
And last note. If you love my photos, and can’t wait for me to set up your senior photo session, but don’t really want the work or commitment of being a rep, that is NOT a problem! Not everyone is cut out to be a rep, but everyone IS cut out to be one of JPSearcy Seniors! I am more than happy to give you an amazing photo session, tailored just to you, and you don’t have to be a rep! I love all of the seniors I shoot, wether they are reps or not. So, if you don’t want to be a rep, I would still love to be your photographer! <3
And because a post with no photos is a boring post, here are a few photos of my fantastic group of reps from the class of 2017!
