Next senior up on the blog is Joshua! He, like most of the senior guys I photograph, wasn’t exactly thrilled about having a shoot. But he was a great sport, and I think, ended up having a good time! His mom and girlfriend came with him to help out. Girlfriends are always invited to come along with the guys for their shoot. No one can get smiles out of the guys like their girlfriends ;). I know that the guys will be happy they have these photographs (the moms sure will be!) Our shoot was at Kraft Azalea in Winter Park. I’m happy to report, it did just fine in the storm. Yes, there were a few downed trees, but nothing I couldn’t work with. In fact, we used on of those downed trees in the shoot!
If you haven’t gotten your senior photos (non-yearbook ones, I mean), I am almost booked for the rest of the fall! So, even if you don’t know the exact details, call or email me to at least lock down your date.
Now onto sneak peeks!
Summer is coming to an end, so that means it is time for the rising seniors to get their senior photos taken! Yes, you have to get your yearbook photos taken, but that is not what I am talking about. I’m talking about senior photos that are far more personal and fun! You pick the location, and bring several different outfits, and I’ll take care of the rest. We will have a lot of fun, and we will get a lot of beautiful photos to celebrate this important milestone in your life! I have many already on my calendar for the summer, but I do have some open dates left. If you have not yet gotten on my calendar, let me know so I can take care of that for you. Once school starts, your schedules get much more difficult (and we can only shoot on weekends then!). All of my summer shoots are first thing in the morning, so we are finished before it gets too hot out, so no worries about that. Still have questions, check out my website www.jpsearcyseniors.com, or talk to any of my reps, or reach out to me! I am happy to answer any and all questions you may have.
Now, on to more fun things ~ SNEAK PEEKS!! I had a great time meeting Megan and her mom. She is so adorable and so sweet and we had so much fun! The location she chose was Rollins College.

Now, on to more fun things ~ SNEAK PEEKS!! I had a great time meeting Lumaris and her mom for her senior session. She is so beautiful and so sweet! We had a rain out on her first scheduled date, so we had to move to this day. For a few minutes, I thought she would need to be rescheduled again, but the rain waited for us to finish our shoot. (No worries, if weather is going to be bad, we just pick a new day. I want everything to be perfect for you!) Being so cloudy out, did really help the heat though! Sure it was hot out, but you couldn’t tell by the look of her. The location she chose was Rollins in Winter Park.
Let’s kick off your senior year with JPSearcy’s annual 2 day sale! For those who have followed me for a while, you know all about it, and you know it’s coming! But for those who have just found me, let me tell you all about it!
Let’s start by talking about senior photos. You may be thinking, “the seniors are JUST leaving the building, isn’t it a little soon to be booking OUR senior photo session?” The answer is NO! The seniors will be graduating next two weeks, and then guess what? YOU are the seniors! Most seniors get their portraits done during the summer before the senior year starts. This is when you have to go to the contract photographer to get the boring yearbook ones taken (you know the ones ~ they look remarkably like the ones YOUR parents had taken! The fake black drape, the fake tux, you know, the way you would NEVER actually be photographed in real life!). But yes, everyone must go thru that during the summer for the yearbook. What you may NOT know though, is you can stop there right after the yearbook photo. The contract photographers will have an appointment for JUST that – yearbook photos. THEN, you come to me and get the photographs that will show the real you! Your personality, your style, who YOU are. I don’t line you up and shoot you like you are a number. I take time making sure your experience is not only fun and personal, but resulting in gorgeous images that you will WANT to hang on your walls and give to family. My shoots are done on location, where ever YOU want them to be. It could be some place garden-like or some place more urban or some place more in the middle of the two. That is completely up to you! (If you don’t know an exact location, just tell me the “look” you are going for, and I am happy to offer up some suggestions!). These are YOUR senior photos, and I want the entire experience to be one that you enjoy and remember for years to come!
And because I have been doing this a while, I can tell you some of the hesitations you may have: “It’s too early! I don’t feel like a senior yet!” Yes it is early, but not too early! Like discussed earlier, you have to get the yearbook ones done during the summer, so why not get your fun ones done then too? Also, once school starts, your schedules get crazy busy and it gets pretty difficult to schedule in some time for a session. “It’s too hot!” Yep, it IS too hot. But know what? We live in Florida, and it is always hot! Seriously though, all of my summer shoots are held first thing in the morning. Yes it means you have to wake up early one day during summer, BUT by shooting early in the morning, you won’t melt, and the temp isn’t at 200 degrees outside yet, AND it won’t be raining that early (rain comes in the afternoon!). After every summer shoot, the senior tells me, “I am so glad that we did this early in the morning!” By the time we are finished, it is starting to heat up. But definitely bearable during the shoot, which is what is important! “I don’t care about saving money (to book during 2 day sale)!” Well, I am willing to bet your parents would love any kind of discount they can get! Haha! Senior year is an expensive one! So, by booking during the 2 day sale, you will save them a little bit of $, AND help spread out some of those senior expenses. Those who say they want to wait until the end of their senior year to get their photos done, usually end up not getting any done because all focus becomes on graduation, and then this just becomes a chore. That is not what photo shoots with me are meant to be! It is meant to be fun, not something you HAVE to get done! Or the parents are just tapped out after prom, announcements, graduation, grad parties, college deposits, etc. Do them a favor and book during the sale to save them a little bit and help spread out the expenses more so they aren’t slammed at the end of the school year!
There is only ONE sale that I run every year. And it is my senior 2 day sale. No, this isn’t like Macy’s where every other weekend is a two day sale ;). Mine is truly only offered once a year! And that time is quickly approaching! During my two day sale, you call me, pick your session type, date, location (if you know it, if not, we can decide that later), and pay the reduced session fee at time of booking. Your session must be scheduled for anytime during the summer, before September 30th. Easy as that! For a detailed listing of the different session types, it can all be found on my website under the pricing section – http://www.jpsearcyseniors.com. Take a look all around the site while you are there, so you can see samples from different locations and the type of work that I do!
Without further rambling, here is the info for the class of 2018 2 day sale! Sale is next weekend, and for upcoming seniors ~ class of 2018 only!
Can you believe it is almost time for the class of 2018?! I have officially started photographing my new reps, and I look forward to sharing lots of photos of my fabulous team with everyone. First rep up is Brianna. I had such a great time meeting and getting to know her better. The two locations she chose were Rollins and Dickson Azalea. Two very good locations to shoot at. If you know Bri, and want to have gorgeous photos like hers, talk to her about it! Talk to her about what shoots with me are like, and how to book your own shoot!
Here are a couple of sneak peeks from each of her two locations:
It is that time of year again! Time to start working on the graduation announcements. If you had a shoot with me this year, you probably saw the graduation announcements that I offer. I told you that I don’t take orders for them until after January, remember? Well, it’s February! Don’t worry, this design appointment won’t take nearly as long as your first viewing/ordering appointment. You have already seen your photos, you know which are your favs, so this next part is pretty quick and painless. In the past, they have taken about 15 minutes. If you are interested in making an announcement appointment, send me a quick email letting me know when is best for you to come by.
If you have NOT had a shoot with me yet, it isn’t too late! We still have time to have a great session, get beautiful portraits, and get your custom graduation announcements back. All before graduation! While it isn’t too late now, it will be too late soon. So you don’t want to wait too much longer to get on my calendar. This last semester flies by, and towards the end of the semester, you and your family will be busy with graduation plans and parties. Trust me! If you would like to talk to me about a shoot, please email me ~ email@example.com or call/text me 407-977-6296.
It was a very hard process this year. Selecting new reps is always difficult. On one hand, I am extremely flattered that so many fantastic kids want to rep for me. On the other hand, I hate having to choose! Because the applications I get, I swear, are getting better and better every year. It breaks my heart that I can’t have everyone be a rep. But if everyone were a rep, then who would they refer?! So, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for wanting to be a part of my rep team. And I sincerely hope that I do get the opportunity to meet and photograph every single person who reached out to me. We can have a great shoot together (and you don’t have to work for me all year 😉 ).
Now that is out of the way, I have an amazing group of juniors who are going to rep for me next year! I am also excited that I have reps from two new schools this year this year. In addition to Hagerty, Oviedo, Winter Springs, Lake Howell, I now also have a rep from Trinity Prep and a rep from Titusville! Super excited to get into new schools and meet even more great seniors and their families!
Ok, enough reading! I know you are just scrolling to see the photos, so here they are! My class of 2018 JPSearcy Senior Reps!
It is that time of year again! My search for the next class of JPSearcy Senior reps!
I have more details on an earlier blog entry (from a few days ago). You should read it in its entirety if you haven’t already. But the shortened version is, I search for a couple of girls from each of the local schools to represent me and my business during their senior year. (I say girls, because the major perks of being a rep is all of the photo shoots you go on. And guys, while they do have a good time on a shoot with me, don’t always want to do multiple shoots. AND talk about their photos with others (the main job of a rep). However, if the right guy wanted to be a rep, I’d totally be open to it.). What I look for in a rep – good kid (because they ARE representing me, after all!), very social and outgoing, friendly and approachable, involved in their school, involved in extra curricular activities, responsible and driven, and someone comfortable in front of the camera. I am NOT looking for a model or model-types (I’ll make them look and feel like a model on their shoots with me, but looks alone are not what is going to get the rep spot!). My reps will show off their beautiful photos to their friends and classmates and talk to them about their experience with me. And in turn, they can earn credits to be used towards their own senior photos (and they can earn extra photo shoots too!). Reps DO pay a session fee, just like everyone else. They just have the opportunity to turn their session fee into credits towards their own senior photo order.
So exciting! Here is the official application for the class of 2018 JPSearcy Senior reps:
PLEASE before submitting your application, make sure your parents know about it, and are ok with you applying. I will have to contact each of them anyway, and I don’t want to surprise them ;). I am looking for reps for Hagerty, Oviedo, Winter Springs, Lake Howell, Lake Brantley, Winter Park and any other school in the nearby area (public or private schools are fine, even if I don’t have a rep there this year!).
After submitting your application, please go to your social media sites and add me, favorite me, like me, whatever! I am jpsearcy on twitter, instagram, and snapchat, and Jeannette Priest Searcy on facebook (and jpsearcy on the business page of facebook). It is easier for you to find me and add me, than it is for me to find you!
I leave the applications up for as long as they need to be for me to get lots of possible reps, and then when I think I have enough fantastic people to choose from, I close it for that school. (It is a very overwhelming job as is!) Some schools fill up QUICKLY (I’m talking within hours!) Others take a little longer, maybe a few days. Once I have closed the applications for your school, that is it, no more accepted! So, bottom line, if you know you want to do this, and you know that you would be a fantastic rep for me, apply NOW!!
All of the info about the JPSearcy rep program is listed in the blog entry before this one, so if you haven’t read it yet, please do!
Any questions for me, I can be reached by email – firstname.lastname@example.org or by text 407-977-6296 (or any other social media 😉 ). Good luck!!
Almost time for the applications for the next year senior reps! Applications will go online in one week. Friday, January 20th at 4pm. But, before next Friday, I wanted to give the details for those who may be interested in applying. If you ARE interested in applying, please share this blog entry with your parents. They MUST be on board with you applying! (And, trust me, as a mom myself, give them the info now, not next Friday at 3:59pm 😉 )
What is a rep? Well, every year I select 1-3 girls from each of the local schools to represent me, and spread the word to their friends and classmates about what it is like to have their senior photos taken by JPSearcy Photography. The reps go on a deluxe session which is basically a photoshoot to two locations of their choosing. They also have the opportunity to “earn” extra photo shoots. Among those extra shoots include a family shoot (perk for the parents!), a beach shoot, and fun themed group shoots! They are also earning credit with each referral they send, to spend on their own senior photos. Reps have advance notice of the once a year sale I run, and can offer a free gift to the people they are referring to me.
What am I looking for in a JPSearcy Senior Rep? I am looking for girls who are super motivated, involved in their school, friendly, approachable, have a great online presence on social media, fun, and competitive! Why only girls? Girls are the ones who typically WANT to do this job. Guys have fun on a shoot with me too, but they typically don’t want to do multiple shoots and all day shoot. And they don’t talk as much as the girls do! Haha! Now, I will say, if I got an application from a guy, and he could convince me that he would do as much as the girls do, then I would be thrilled to have him rep for me!
Things to know about being selected to rep for JPSearcy Seniors:
~Each of my reps DO pay a session fee, just like any other client. The difference is, they earn theirs back to use towards their senior photos as soon as they start bringing in referrals. Why do they have to pay for a session fee? Because I invest a lot of time and money into each of my reps. And I only want reps who are in it for the job, not just all the extra sessions and perks. So, by having my rep program set up this way, the reps do get free sessions, but they have to earn them. I have been using reps for many years now, so if a parent of a potential rep is a little nervous, I am happy to connect you to some of the parents of previous reps for piece of mind.
~This is not a modeling job! The extra photo shoots are perks, the real job is referring your friends to have their senior photos taken with me. You do not have to be a model, you do not have to look like a model to be a rep! (I don’t even ask for a photo with the application)
~While I call this a “job”, it really doesn’t involve very much time. Most of the referring is done just hanging out with their friends! The busiest time will be around the 2 day sale in May.
~Selecting a new class of reps is one of MY most stressful times of the entire year. It kills me that I have to turn girls down. Please know that there is a lot that goes into selecting the reps, behind the scenes. I even have other senior photographers that I know in other parts of the country help me decide! If you are not selected as a rep, it could be because of one of a 100 different reasons. But most of the time, it is as simple as you are good friends with another girl who was already selected as a rep. So, please don’t be too upset, and pretty please don’t take it personally. I would still love to photograph you and get to know you better as a JPSearcy client. <3
Complete benefits and details will be sent to those who are finalists. Your parents will have to look it all over with you, and agree to it, before you are officially a rep. Gotta have the parent’s blessing!
Applications will be going up around 4pm next Friday afternoon. The link will be posted on my blog, twitter, facebook, and instagram (basically everywhere!). Facebook – www.facebook.com/jpsearcy, Twitter -http://twitter.com/jpsearcy, Instagram – www.instagram.com/jpsearcy. (And while you are at it, please follow or “like” me!) If you are interested, I would urge you to talk it over with your parents NOW, before the applications go up on Friday. Show them this post and show the type of photos I take on my website – http://www.jpsearcyseniors.com. If they are on board with you applying, then fill out your application as soon as you see them posted Friday afternoon. Think about your answers, because the application is most of what I go on when selecting new reps! Applications stay open for each school until I have plenty of great candidates, then I close them for that school. In the past, some schools, closed after only 2 hours! So, you don’t want to miss out!
If you have any questions about what it is REALLY like to be a JPSearcy rep, why don’t you ask one of my current reps?! They are all amazing, and I’m sure they wouldn’t mind giving you the low down on what it is like to work for me. Or if you have questions for me, I’m happy to answer anything! You can email me email@example.com, or message me on any of my social media accounts.
And last note. If you love my photos, and can’t wait for me to set up your senior photo session, but don’t really want the work or commitment of being a rep, that is NOT a problem! Not everyone is cut out to be a rep, but everyone IS cut out to be one of JPSearcy Seniors! I am more than happy to give you an amazing photo session, tailored just to you, and you don’t have to be a rep! I love all of the seniors I shoot, wether they are reps or not. So, if you don’t want to be a rep, I would still love to be your photographer! <3
And because a post with no photos is a boring post, here are a few photos of my fantastic group of reps from the class of 2017!
Next senior up on the blog is Stephen! He is such a great kid, and we had a great time on our shoot at Rollins. Not only were WE having fun, but I think his mom had even more fun than we were! I love it when everyone is having a good time on a shoot. It makes for really great photos.
