I had the pleasure to meet and photograph a very special family last week.  They were down from Colorado on vacation.  A good friend of mine referred them to me, as she knew them from the adoption world.  And since they hadn’t ever done a family photo session before, they thought it would be a perfect time!  I completely agree!  I think by the end of the shoot, they were happy that I do summer sessions in the early morning ;).  The heat and humidity is a *little* different down here.

Whenever I have someone in front of my lens from a different part of the country, I find it so funny the things that catch their eye.  Like palm trees!  And lizards!  Yes, seeing a couple of their kids chasing after, and diving after lizards was hilarious to me.  I promised them, those wouldn’t be the last lizards they saw during their trip ;).

Thank you for trusting me with your first family photo session!  I had a great time meeting you and your wonderful family.

Well, this family session was a first for me.  This was a top secret family session / marriage announcement!  After being together for 27 years, this lovely couple decided it was time to get married!  So, half of the shoot was to get some beautiful updated family photos, but the other half was to get some gorgeous photos of the newly married couple.  I had a great time meeting and photographing this wonderful family.

Introducing the newlyweds and their “kids”:

I love this family.  I’ve known their parents forever, and I have had the pleasure of watching them grow up right before my lens.  (Starting literally when they were born!)  Such great kids, and I love the time I get to spend with them.  Mom always has great ideas for their shoots too.  This one, she is thinking way ahead!  She wanted photos of the both of them at their new school, so when it is time for their senior photos, we can do part of their session there too.  Yes, senior photos are still 5 and 7 years away, but how fun will it be to see how much they have changed in their uniform and environments?!

Here are a few sneak peeks from their shoot at their school:

Although I don’t typically photograph weddings, I was so touched that one of my former seniors wanted me to shoot hers!  I think it was a perfect wedding.  So beautiful and so sweet!  This adorable couple was so happy and so in love, it was amazing to play a small role in their special day. I came home and went right to work so I could have some sneak peeks for them before they left on their honeymoon.  Ahhh, young love!

Oh, I had so much fun with this family!  I have been photographing both of their girls all year (so they may look familiar, and keep an eye out in another day or two for more of their sneak peeks coming out!).  So, it was so nice to photograph the whole family at their home.  We don’t always have to go to a park or a popular location.  If you want photos at home, or another place that is special to you and your family, then let’s have our session there!  Their beautiful home provided plenty of nice backdrops for us to use.  Grandma and Grandpa joined in on the shoot too, which I love!  They are all such a wonderful family, and I love that they trust me to capture all of these special times for them.

I absolutely LOVE photographing these kids!  I have been so lucky to be able to photograph the both of them since they were born!  Seeing them a couple times a year, I have not only been able to see them grow physically, but how they are growing into such neat little humans!  I just love talking with them, and hearing all about what is going on in their lives.  They are so smart and so talented, and just awesome kids!

Here are a couple of sneak peeks of the both of these amazing kids:

It has been such a wonderful year, with the best clients!  And I can’t imagine a better family to wrap it all up with.  For my last shoot of the year, I had the pleasure to photograph this beautiful family again.  And many of my seniors will recognize her.  Yes! It is the fabulous Rosie (my friend AND the best make up artist ever!).  I love photographing her beautiful family every year.

And I would like to take just a second to thank ALL of my clients, and wish all of you and your families HAPPY HOLIDAYS, and a happy and healthy new year.  See you in 2019!

Next family up on the blog, is the family of a past senior!  I love when families come back to see me.  It’s great to catch up AND get them some new beautiful photos!  Even though I am pretty sure, this was not tops on the boys’ lists to do, they were great sports (and I think that they even, maybe, had a little bit of fun too!  It’s so great that all of the family wanted to do this for mom.

We had a great time on our shoot at Kraft Azalea.  It is a beautiful park, however at this time of year, it is packed solid with lots of families getting their Christmas pictures!  Thankfully, we can all work well around each other so everyone gets beautiful images 😉  Here are a few sneak peeks from our shoot:

‘Tis the season for family photos!  Now, not all of my family clients want sneak peeks, because they want to save them to send out to family.  And that is totally understandable and no problem!  This family wanted to do family photos to have new and updated family photos, not just for a holiday card.  I have photographed one of their daughters for her senior photos this year, and then mom decided it was time to do a whole family session.  LOVE THAT!!  She wanted to do it at the beach.  I think the kids would have been happier if it was the beach in the afternoon, not at sunrise ;), but they were great sports and woke up super early.  And we were so lucky with a gorgeous sunrise that morning!  (That part I can’t control, so I am always super excited when it all works out like this). All said and done, I’m sure all 3 took naps that day, knowing that they made their parents happy with some beautiful new family photos!

This next family sneak peek is a little different.  This is part of MY family!  This is my sister’s family (who doesn’t get in front of my camera very often) while we were on vacation in Maine.  I do get the kiddos in my lens probably close to once a year or every other year.  But the entire family?  Much more difficult to do!  So, I didn’t give them much of a choice.  It is going to happen when we were all on vacation together ;).  I love this little family so much!
