A wedding?!  Yep, you are reading that correctly!  JPSearcy photographed a wedding!  No, this isn’t something that I am doing all the time now, just in special circumstances.  I’ve known the groom for a couple years, and he is a great guy.  And as soon as I met his bride, I fell in love with her immediately.  So, I was honored to photograph their wedding.

Their day started at the park for their bridal portraits.  They opted to do a “first look”.  What that is, is where they see each other before the wedding.  They get to share a special moment, just the two of them, without all of their friends and family to see each other and spend a little time together.  Oh, and get photos taken too ;).  What was unique about their first look, was afterwards, they had allotted lots of time to do all of their wedding photos of them and them with their wedding party.  This was such a great idea, because then after the wedding, they can spend all of their time at the reception with their friends and family.  After their photos, we went back for the ceremony and reception.  It was such a lovely wedding held at home.  And they really lucked out with the best weather day of the season.  All the stars were aligned for them on their special day.

Here are some sneak peeks from their day.  To see more, be sure to check on Facebook – www.facebook.com/jpsearcy.  I will be adding more there as I get them edited:

“A wedding?  I didn’t know you did weddings!”  YES, on special occasions and for special people, I DO photograph weddings!  And this one was definitely for special people.  I met Sarah and her mom years ago for her senior photos.  I just loved them right off the batt!  So, when she got engaged to Jeff, she asked me to photograph them for their engagement.  After seeing the both of them together, they were just so sweet and adorable, I was honored to be their photographer for their wedding.  They were married at Lake Mary Event Center at sunset last week.  It was a beautiful and fun ceremony performed by a family friend.  He was so great, he surprised them with little added touches all throughout the ceremony.  And then afterwards, a great time was had by all at their reception.  Great food, great DJ, dancing, and fun.  Thanks for including me in your special day!

Here are just a few photos to get you started.  To see more, go “like” my Facebook page www.facebook.com/jpsearcy, and I will be adding many more!

Another wedding?!  Yep!  This was the first couple that booked me to photograph their wedding.  And while I have plenty of photography experience, I did not have a lot of wedding experience.  Just a couple of small weddings, and some assisting on other weddings with other photographers.  I liked this couple right away, and was so honored that even with my limited wedding experience, they still trusted me to be their photographer.

The wedding was a beautiful church wedding, with lots of personal details.  The wedding was held at St. James Catholic Cathedral in downtown Orlando with the reception following at the Country Club of Orlando. Other fantastic vendors from the day were Wendy Woo Cakes http://www.wendywoocakes.com/ and Diane Partin Parker from Entertaining Thoughts for the florals and tables http://www.facebook.com/entertainingthoughts.  This lovely couple was surrounded by lots of family and friends all day.  It was simply a perfect day!

Enough chatter, sneak peek time! 😉  There will be lots more shared in the coming weeks on facebook.  If you are interested in seeing, make sure you go and “like” my page http://www.facebook.com/jpsearcy, so you can see all of them!

Lots of firsts with this one!  First solo wedding, first destination wedding, first outdoor nighttime wedding.  But what makes it even more memorable, it was for my little sister!  I was so honored to photograph this wedding for them.  Not to mention, it was in one of my most favorite cities in the world – NEW YORK!!

The wedding was a very small intimate wedding, with lots of lovely details.  From it being held at their favorite vegan restaurant, to having a good friend officiate the ceremony filled with all the things that are important and personal to them, to heartfelt toasts, to close family and friends there.  Everything came together so beautifully, and made for a very special evening.  The next day, we were able to get VIP tickets to go and do some wedding photographs at the top of Rockefeller Center.  The clouds were rolling in, and made for a scene right out of the movies.  All in all, I think it was a lovely weekend, and I was so glad to be there!

Yep, you read that correctly.  JPSearcy Bridals.  I have been fighting it for a while, but since starting my business, one thing I have learned – NEVER SAY NEVER!!!  I used to say, “I will never shoot seniors.  I remember ME as a teenager, and I wouldn’t want to work with me every day!”  Obviously, that doesn’t hold true anymore!  Seniors are my most favorite people in the world to shoot now!  (Not to mention, they are a lot nicer than I was as a teenager 😉 )  And many of you have asked along the way, “Will you shoot weddings?”  My answer has always been NEVER!  Well, I am softening up in my old age, I guess, because I am not going to say, “No,  never!” anymore.  Does this mean that I am going to go full force into weddings now, and ditch my seniors?  Of course not!  Seniors are my favorites, I would never give them up!  But I will, begin to take on a couple weddings.  What would be ideal for me, is to shoot my senior’s weddings (after they are done with college of course!).  You won’t see me out in bridal shows, or anything like that.  It will just be something that I will offer when the right couples come along.  Really, would probably be only referrals, because I don’t know how else they would find me ;).

With that all being said, I have a very good friend in Nashville.  She, happens to be a fabulous wedding/event planner (http://www.amagicalaffair.com, if you are needing someone!  She does do out of town weddings/destination weddings/events as well, so you don’t HAVE to be in Nashville to use her!).  Well, she has been trying to twist my arm for YEARS to get into weddings.  When I told her that I was thinking about offering weddings, she was so excited, and we planned a trip for me to Nashville.  She was fabulous!  She had a nice variety of locations for me, beautiful dresses, wedding bouquets, AND some beautiful models, all so I could do some bridal shoots to start a portfolio.  We had such an amazing time!

Here are some samples of what I was working on when I was there:

First location: The Factory at Franklin

Second location: Gaylord Opryland

And final location: Kings Chapel

So, if you are looking for a wedding photographer, give me a call!  I will be accepting only a VERY limited number of weddings, starting in the fall of 2012.  Contact me to discuss your wedding and packages I offer!

I know, I know, I said that I will never do weddings.  Well, I think I have learned that I should never say never!  In this past year, I have second shot (which means assisted) another wedding photographer, so I thought if I could take weddings on a case by case basis, I would!  Don’t worry, I am not giving up my seniors, or families, anytime soon (or EVER!), but since I am asked so often if I *would* photograph weddings, I thought I should get a couple under my belt.  Makes me more well rounded I think ;).

This wedding was for a very special couple out at Cocoa Beach.  It was a lovely intimate wedding officiated by “The Colonel” (for those of you at Oviedo in ROTC, that should sound familiar!).  See, they met at Oviedo while in ROTC, and having him perform the ceremony was so special!  They were surrounded by love all around.  (See, that part of weddings I can really get into!  The excitement and love in the air!)   And yes, there are going to be tons of sneak peeks (don’t go thinking this will be the new normal, because it won’t! Hahaha!).  But the reason for a lot of sneaks is because they are both in the Navy, and she has to ship out on deployment really soon (we are talking the end of the week!).  So I wanted to give her some extras before she left!

Here are some highlights from their day (and the last one just made me laugh, so I had to put it in!):

I am *thinking* of doing a special little contest coming up soon (for weddings).  Let me work out the details, and then I will post it here on the blog, and as always, my facebook page.  So, if you haven’t “liked” me yet, please do!  And share the page with anyone who is planning on getting married in the first half of 2012 (that is who the contest will be geared to!).  Of course I would love it if you shared the page with EVERYONE!  http://www.facebook.com/jpsearcy

OK, OK, I know.  I have ALWAYS said that I would never be interested in being a wedding photographer.  (I really should learn to never say never!)  Well, I am still not sure if I want to go that avenue, but I did want to give it a shot.  You know, just to see what it was all about.

It would be extremely irresponsible of me to take on a wedding without any wedding experience.  And I would never do that.  But a good friend of mine IS a wedding photographer out of Volusia County (Sandy Brantley Photography, btw).  So, I told her about wanting to dip my toes in and see what all the hoopla was about.  She graciously let me tag along as a second shooter.  I was responsible for some groom shots before the ceremony, some detail shots of the day, things like that.  I really just wanted to do it so I could observe her and watch her do her thing.  And I will admit, it was more fun than I had thought.  Lots and lots of work, but no where near the “bridezilla” type day that I thought it would be.  The bride and her family were delightful, as were the groom and his family.  And it was so great to be around all the love of the day!

Being that I was only the second shooter, I didn’t get to do lots of creative type stuff and not a ton with just the bride and groom (that’s the primary photographer’s job), but I did like the photos that I was able to get!  Here are just a few from the day:

All in all, I think it was a great experience.  THANK YOU SANDY!!  And now, I can say, I *may* do weddings in the future.   For now, I will stick with my  seniors, the families and their little kiddos, and on occasion second shooting.  But who knows!  You may start seeing me do a wedding here and there!
