It’s much more common to have family portraits taken when the kids are little.  But why not when they are older?  Or better yet, when everyone is grown up?!  This family session was such a fun one for me to photograph.  Three grown up sisters with their mom.  What an amazing gift to have?!  Beautiful photos of everyone!  Even though they all have their own families, to go back to the original women in the family was such a great idea.  And let me tell you, all 4 of these beautiful women were so much fun to be around!  Yes, margaritas before the session *may* have had a tiny bit to do with how silly they were.  But I think they all were just having a good time being together.

One last senior to wrap up the class of 2016!  And such a sweet senior to end the year.  Usually I don’t get seniors this close to graduation.  They are way too busy with graduating!  But I’m glad that Erin wanted to get this done.  And there is a big benefit that I can see by doing it this late.  You have your cap and gown!  So, we were able to get some beautiful shots in that as well.  Congratulations to Erin, and the rest of the class of 2016!

Let’s kick off your senior year with JPSearcy’s annual 2 day sale!  For those who have followed me for a while, you know all about it, and you know it’s coming!  But for those who have just found me, let me tell you all about it!

Let’s start by talking about senior photos.  You may be thinking, “the seniors are JUST leaving the building, isn’t it a little soon to be booking OUR senior photo session?”  The answer is NO!  The seniors will be graduating next two weeks, and then guess what?  YOU are the seniors!  Most seniors get their portraits done during the summer before the senior year starts.  This is when you have to go to the contract photographer to get the boring yearbook ones taken (you know the ones ~ they look remarkably like the ones YOUR parents had taken!  The fake black drape, the fake tux, you know, the way you would NEVER actually be photographed in real life!).  But yes, everyone must go thru that during the summer for the yearbook.  What you may NOT know though, is you can stop there right after the yearbook photo.  The contract photographers will have an appointment for JUST that – yearbook photos.  THEN, you come to me and get the photographs that will show the real you!  Your personality, your style, who YOU are.  I don’t line you up and shoot you like you are a number.  I take time making sure your experience is not only fun and personal, but resulting in gorgeous images that you will WANT to hang on your walls and give to family.  My shoots are done on location, where ever YOU want them to be.  It could be some place garden-like or some place more urban or some place more in the middle of the two.  That is completely up to you!  (If you don’t know an exact location, just tell me the “look” you are going for, and I am happy to offer up some suggestions!).  These are YOUR senior photos, and I want the entire experience to be one that you enjoy and remember for years to come!

And because I have been doing this a while, I can tell you some of the hesitations you may have: “It’s too early!  I don’t feel like a senior yet!”  Yes it is early, but not too early!  Like discussed earlier, you have to get the yearbook ones done during the summer, so why not get your fun ones done then too?  Also, once school starts, your schedules get crazy busy and it gets pretty difficult to schedule in some time for a session.  “It’s too hot!”  Yep, it IS too hot.  But know what?  We live in Florida, and it is always hot!  Seriously though, all of my summer shoots are held first thing in the morning.  Yes it means you have to wake up early one day during summer, BUT by shooting early in the morning, you won’t melt, and the temp isn’t at 200 degrees outside yet, AND it won’t be raining that early (rain comes in the afternoon!). After every summer shoot, the senior tells me, “I am so glad that we did this early in the morning!”  By the time we are finished, it is starting to heat up.  But definitely bearable during the shoot, which is what is important!  “I don’t care about saving money (to book during 2 day sale)!”  Well, I am willing to bet your parents would love any kind of discount they can get!  Haha!  Senior year is an expensive one!  So, by booking during the 2 day sale, you will save them a little bit of $, AND help spread out some of those senior expenses.  Those who say they want  to wait until the end of their senior year to get their photos done, usually end up not getting any done because all focus becomes on graduation, and then this just becomes a chore.  That is not what photo shoots with me are meant to be!  It is meant to be fun, not something you HAVE to get done!  Or the parents are just tapped out after prom, announcements, graduation, grad parties, college deposits, etc.  Do them a favor and book during the sale to save them a little bit and help spread out the expenses more so they aren’t slammed at the end of the school year!

There is only ONE sale that I run every year.  And it is my senior 2 day sale.  No, this isn’t like Macy’s where every other weekend is a two day sale ;).  Mine is truly only offered once a year!  And that time is quickly approaching!  During my two day sale, you call me, pick your session type, date, location (if you know it, if not, we can decide that later), and pay the reduced session fee at time of booking.  Your session must be scheduled for anytime during the summer, before August 31st.  Easy as that!  For a detailed listing of the different session types, it can all be found on my website under the pricing section –  Take a look all around the site while you are there, so you can see samples from different locations and the type of work that I do!

Without further rambling, here is the info for the class of 201y 2 day sale!

Olivia is the last of my senior rep shoots! I have had such a great time getting to know each of my new reps better, and showing them off to you.

Last rep up is Olivia from Oviedo High School! The two locations that she chose for her shoot was Kraft Azalea and Maitland Art Center.  Olivia wanted to choose locations that weren’t my most popular ones, but were still great spots.  As you may know, I’ll go pretty much anywhere for a shoot.  If a senior has a particular favorite spot or meaningful location, I’m all for it!  But the ones you see on my website are my tried and true locations.  I only feature the locations that I know photograph well.  Not saying that some of the personal ones wouldn’t photograph well, but often times they are private, and special permission was granted to that particular senior.  For Olivia’s shoot, we started at Kraft.  It is one of my favorite spots.  The light is great there pretty much all day, and it is just pretty greenery all of the time.  After that we went to Maitland Art Center to finish up our shoot.  I really enjoyed shooting Olivia.  She opened up pretty quickly, and I could see her for the (gorgeous) goofball she really is!  We had a great time.

Next year’s reps have started their shoots! And I’m so excited! Excited to be finally getting them in front of my camera, and excited to share them with you.

Next rep up is Cameron from Winter Springs High School! The two locations that she chose for her shoot was Rollins and Dickson Azalea.  Seems to be a popular combo for the reps this year.  Rollins is always a popular location, but maybe Dickson Azalea will be more popular this year!  It is a great location, so who knows?!  I’ve known Cameron’s family for several years, because her older sister was a rep for me.  They are such a great family, so I was really excited when Cameron applied this year.  Besides being gorgeous, she knows first hand about being a rep, and having shoots with me.  I had a great time on our shoot getting to know Cameron better.  And I learned, she is much happier when she is fed and/or has a Starbucks 😉  Hey, whatever it takes to get the beautiful photos, right?!

Next rep up is Amber from Winter Springs High School! The two locations that she chose for her shoot was Rollins and Dickson Azalea.  Her shoot had a funny start to it.  We had to make not one, but two, stops at Walgreens!  First one was because she forgot to paint her toes, and she needed nail polish.  The second, was for a hair emergency, where she needed to pick up a straightener.  Again, whatever it takes! Can’t argue with the results, because she looked beautiful!  Even when she wanted to get into a questionable stream at Dickson Azalea.  It is pretty gross, but she didn’t care.  She wanted to get in that nasty water!  And the results were stunning!

Next rep up is Gabriella from Oviedo High School!  The two locations that she chose for her shoot was Rollins and Maitland Art Center.  We were having such a great time on our shoot, when it came to an abrupt ending.  We were shooting at Maitland Art Center, only to find that they were closed!  So we couldn’t get into to many of the spots we wanted to.  Being that this was the location she had her heart set on, we shot as much around the grounds as we could.  And then came back a couple of days later, and took a few more shots in the area that we couldn’t get into the first time.  I like to make sure my clients are happy and get what they want ;).
