Well, I guess it was bound to happen with all the beach sunrises I have been doing. We had a morning with NO sunrise. I was so disappointed! However, looking on the bright side, the light was beautiful and soft for the entire session! And that rarely happens! (Usually it gets blazing bright, which leads to squinting eyes, harsh light on the skin, and major sweating! Then our only option is to move under the pier). So, we didn’t get the actual sun rising, but we got extra time on the beach with great soft light!
She was such a great girl. She didn’t let a little thing like no sun, bring her down for her shoot! She was gorgeous, and I loved that she seemed to know that location as well as I did from looking at everyone else’s shots. (Which reminds me, it has been way too long since I have updated the photos on the site. I will do that soon!!!). We had a great time! Here are a few that I really liked from her session:
I think I *may* be getting used to shooting in the summer heat! Either that, or I have just been pretty lucky lately. We start sessions around 7am, and it is actually pretty nice out! I wouldn’t go as far as saying that it was “cool out”, but not too hot, not too bright, just right!
This morning, I had the pleasure of photographing another lovely senior at Rollins. I love shooting there. There are so many different areas for different looks, all in a relatively small area! And this girl was just so sweet and adorable to photograph! Here are a few of her shots that I really liked:
And the other half of the beautiful duo! It was so much fun working with Heidi and Shannon! We started off at Rollins College, and then headed over to Leu Gardens for the rest. I’m so glad that they decided to do their “senior photos” after graduation. Better late than never!
Here are a couple of Heidi that I really liked for her sneak peek:
YES! You read that right. Class of 2011! Who says you have to get your senior photos before you graduate?! Not me! I will do your senior photos (or photo shoot in general) whenever you want! The next two sneaks (this one and the next one) are from best friends who never had their senior photos done. So, they decided that they REALLY did still want a fun shoot and gorgeous photos, so why not book a shoot together and get them done now! I love that!
We got some fun shots of them together, but for their sneak peeks, I will focus on them as individuals (and make them wait to see their friend shots!). Here are a couple of Shannon that I really loved:
Senior “season” is in full swing! Another gorgeous senior to have lots of fun with! We had a lot of fun on her shoot, even though it was 300 degrees outside. She was cracking me up with everything from bringing a flat iron for touch ups (first one that I can remember, who has done that and actually found someplace to plug it in and use it!), to trying SO hard to rock a serious face, to renaming my posing into two categories ~ the pretty squat and the ugly squat. “Oh you want me to squat? Sure. Pretty squat or ugly squat?” Hahahaha! I always have so much fun with my seniors!
We had a deluxe session, so we got to spend lots of time together. We started at Rollins College, and then made our way to Kraft Azalea. Let me tell you, Kraft Azalea was a good 10 degrees cooler (or at least it felt like it), because it is completely covered in trees. Definitely glad we did those locations in the order that we did. We may have melted otherwise!
Here are a few sneak peeks from her session:
These senior shoots are getting earlier and earlier! Yep, it is hard to get out of bed, especially for the seniors who are on summer break! BUT, it is so worth it. The heat is getting unbearable. But when we are starting at 7am, we are done before it is beastly out!
I loved when I suggested the start time to Jordan, she put up no fight. She was all for starting early! We started off at Casa Feliz. I LOVE shooting there, but it is getting harder to book there, because the are getting more and more popular for events. So, during the week, we have the best chance! Then after Casa, we headed to our second location, at Rollins College. I had such a good time with Jordan. She is so sweet and fun, and seemed to be having a great time at the shoot. So much fun (or maybe it was just because she is naturally happy!) that she had trouble with the “serious face”. She was such a good sport, and she kept trying, but I will say, most of hers are going to be of her naturally smilie face!
Here are your sneak peeks! Hope you like them!
This girl was so sweet, and funny, and just great to be around. She just seemed just so happy to finally be a senior and having her senior photo session! I will spare her the shots where I caught her cracking up laughing (but I WILL show you those at your ordering session, because I love those!). And as happy as she was, she still tried (and mastered, I think) her serious face! Really her cracking up laughing shots always came right before and right after her serious face, because she could only hold them so long! Hahahaha!
Here are a few of her sneak peeks!
And the next sneak, I need some opinions (feel free to comment!). I haven’t done textures in a while, but I was feeling the texture with this next shot (her serious face!). What do you think? Like it better with or without the texture?
I will be on vacation from July 5th – July 13th. Just a quick week away in beautiful Maine! I will be checking emails, and phone messages. I just won’t be responding as quickly as you are used to! I will probably check once or twice a day, and I will get back with you as soon as possible.
If you are looking to book a session, take a look at my availability calendar and pick a date that works for you (and possibly one as a back-up date). I am completely booked up for the month of July, and almost completely booked up for August. There are a couple dates left in August, but I expect those to go quickly. So, email me the date that you want, so I can hold it for you. September is still pretty much wide open for shoots, but you will want to get your date on my calendar, because once we hit fall, I start filling up for family sessions (for holiday photos!).
As soon as I get back, I expect to be rested and recharged, and ready to dive back into work! See you in a week and a half!
For my last session (before vacation that is!), I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Alex! She wasn’t thrilled about needing to wake up so early during the summer (really none of my seniors are!), but she got it once we started shooting. And was actually thankful that we started as early as we did! It gets SO hot and humid so quickly, that I really prefer to start a session by 8am (7am if they can pull it off!). No, I am not a morning person (at all!), I hate waking up early too! But it is so worth it, not melting, in these hot Florida summer days!
Alex and I had some fun shooting on Park Avenue in Winter Park. It is becoming quite a popular location this year! She was so unbelievably sweet and adorable, just a pleasure to photograph. And I thought, just maybe, at the end of the shoot, she would want to do some in the fountain. NOPE! I stuck my feet in though, and I tell you, I almost didn’t come out of the fountain! Nice, cold water, ahhhhh! We had a fantastic shoot, and I am excited to show her all of her photos when I get back from vacation!
In the meantime, here are a few sneak peeks to hold her over!
Oooh, I thought the weather may just get us on this shoot! We are definitely into our summer weather pattern, (where we get thunderstorms every afternoon), but they seem to be coming earlier than usual, and lasting longer! Not good! Especially since we were going to TWO locations. But thankfully, the rain and storms graciously waited until we were done with our shoot. And because it was so overcast, the light was great AND we weren’t drenched with sweat. SCORE!
For this deluxe senior session, we started off at Winter Springs High to get some lacrosse photos. This senior is so good, she is already signed to play for college (and senior year hasn’t even really officially started yet!)! After we had a coach and her dad lug out the goal (which I did kinda feel bad, because that sucker was HEAVY!), we had some fun. Including climbing on top of it (why be normal?!), which I think was her favorite. After we got her lacrosse shots, time for a quick change and head to Kraft Azalea for the rest of them. She was so easy going and adorable, I could have shot her all day long. (Didn’t hurt that she kept throwing ME compliments! Hey, that is MY job, to compliment the senior when she is being her gorgeous self! But I didn’t complain 😉 ).
Thanks for a fabulous session, and I hope you like your sneak peeks!
